We’re wishing a very, very happy publication day (from London) to Lisa Tuttle (in Helsinki) for The Curious Affair of the Witch at Wayside Cross! This is the second in the brilliantly fun and engaging Jesperson and Lane series, featuring dynamic detective duo Miss Lane and Jasper Jesperson (who I’m a bit swoony over).
The first in the series, The Curious Affair of the Somnambulist and the Psychic Thief (which is also out in paperback today!) received rave reviews (ahem, below) so naturally we are delighted to have Jesperson, Lane and Tuttle back!
‘Tuttle does a lovely job of putting us back in the foggy streets of Victorian London in this lively, entertaining blend of murder mystery and supernatural adventure. Arthur Conan Doyle would have approved.’ - George R. R. Martin
‘A hugely enjoyable confection of back-alley cutpurses, society seances, dastardly villainy, and just the faintest hint of will-they-won’t they . . . Smart and entertaining fiction that has fun with the touchstones of Victorian literature, while also exploring, in a light-hearted, light-touch way, what lies behind the curtain’ - SFX
‘A fitting tale of intrigue that makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read . . . thrilling and entertaining story. 9/10‘ - Starburst Magazine
‘Both comical and exciting, this is a delight of a read, and when a new case emerges on the horizon of the final page, it makes you want to urge the author to write the duo’s second set of adventures faster so we can feast on it as soon as possible’ - Maxim Jakubowski, Love Reading
Now for some fun! To celebrate the release we are giving away 3 sets of the series (that’s Book 1 and 2). All you need to do is create your own #CuriousAffair! Details below – let us know what yours is on Twitter and Facebook!
Competition ends 17th August 5pm.
