Hi! I guess I should introduce myself. I’m Sam, the new editorial assistant at Jo Fletcher Books and replacement Nicola. I’m a Samantha rather than a Samuel, but I only get called that when I’m in trouble with my mother (and probably Jo in the future…).
Before joining JFB, I completed a Masters in Publishing, along with work experience at Gollancz and Headline, and I come directly from working at the amazing Goldsboro Books in Cecil Court (seriously – go there, you wont leave for hours). I’m originally from Grimsby, but have also lived in Leeds. Nottingham and Chicago and I moved to London about a year ago, after vehemently denying it was a good idea. Luckily for me, I ended up falling madly in love with this manic, ridiculous city, probably due to diving straight into the SFF scene. Since then, I’ve attended as many events and conventions as possible and met some fantastic people. I’m really excited to be representing JFB at many of them in the future
My favourite types of books are science fiction and fantasy and my biggest weakness is a really compelling character, whether they be a wizard eating stew in an inn or an alien life-form with 17 legs, travelling faster than light. One of my favourite things about the list at JFB is its diversity within the genre and I can’t wait to read EVERYTHING – my bookshelves are groaning at the very thought.
Outside of work I enjoy putting too much caramel syrup in my lattes, attempting to achieve 100% completion on video games and kidnapping my flatmate’s cats. I’ll be helping to update this blog so you can catch me here, on twitter at @SamBradbury89 or at Sam.Bradbury@jofletcherbooks.co.uk.
